Please note: our calculater only gives you a price indication and not a binding price offer. Particularly the prices of flights can vary a lot, and other factors such as child reduction e.a. are not always calculated exactly with the calculator. But it does give you an idea of what to expect, and we will send you a definitive price offer with great pleasure, if you ask for one by using the "offer" button or sending us an e-mail.
ABOUT SUMMERHOUSE
TRIPS IN ICELAND

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT SUMMERHOUSE TRIPS IN ICELAND

Ca. 7 – 21 nights, in principle all year round

With our summerhouse trips, you usually stay in different summerhouses, always 3 or 4 nights in the same house.  Please note, that summerhouses are only rented out from Thursday to Sunday and from Sunday to Thursday, so with the planning of your tour this must be taken into account.  If you like, you can extend your trip with one or more nights in a hotel in Reykjavík, at the beginning or at the end of your trip, or with 3 or 4 nights in another summerhouse.    The highlights vary depending on which trip you select, but in any case you will have the opportunity to explore parts of Iceland and get to know them very well, without having to pack your suitcases all the time.  And of course staying in summerhouses is relatively cheap, because you can cook for yourself and you do not have to eat in expensive restaurants.  Obviously, this is also a very handy option for people with children.  Depending on the duration of your trip, you can see a lot, a whole lot or an enormous lot of Iceland.   If you want to hire a 4x4 vehicle, we can also provide you with a route description which includes some highland routes.  The possibilities are endless, but the availability is not, so the sooner you book, the better....!

The houses

The houses differ enormously, depending on the area and the number of persons per booking.  Sometimes they are real holiday homes, either standing on their own or being in a kind of park.  Sometimes they are appartments in a bigger building or in a row, the variation is endless.  There is a great choice of houses and appartments for 2-6 persons and a few also have space for 7 persons.  However, it is very difficult to find houses for more than 7 people.  In most of the houses there is one double bed, and if there are more beds these are often bunk beds.   Some houses also have loose beds that can be moved together or apart, according to your wishes.   Houses with two double beds are not very common and cannot be guaranteed.  Single beds usually are 70 cm wide, sometimes 80 cm and in rare occasions 90 cm.  Double beds often are 140 cm wide, but in some houses they are wider.   Many houses have their own hot pot, but this is not the case for all of them and in all areas.   In the Kirkjubæjarklaustur area, for example, people have not (yet!) found enough hot water in the soil to easily use it to provide hot water for the houses.  So there, people still heat their homes electrically and in that area the summerhouses do not have hot pots.   However, for 10-11 days trips, we will do all we can to ensure that you will have at least one house with a hot pot, and for 14 days or longer trips you might even have a house with a hot pot twice.

The following is ALWAYS present in all houses:

Enough beds for the number of people you have booked, with duvets and pillows.
Linen for the number of beds needed.  Sometimes the linen is already in the house itself and in other cases you have to pick up your linen packages immediately after your arrival to the airport.  In the last case, you keep the linen along with you during your whole trip and sometimes you use it for more than one house.
A kitchen or kitchenette where you can cook (usually electric), pots, a frying pan, dishes, cups and glasses, cutlery etc.
A sitting area and a dining table with chairs.
A bathroom with a shower and WC

Very often you also find the following items in our houses

TV, radio, CD and/or DVD player
A verandah, terrace or garden with garden furniture so you can sit outside,
An oven or a microwave

And sometimes, there even is a dish washer, or a washing machine or even a dryer, but this cannot be booked especially!
